Introduction To Lubricating Oil Lubrication System

 

  ●Automatic Lubrication System Of Automobile Chassis
  There are various automatic lubrication systems of automobile chassis, but it mainly includes the following five parts:
  ⒈Oil pump unit: It is the heart of the system. The oil pump makes the lubricating grease in the oil tank pressurized and delivered to quantitative distributor (besides the drive motor, safety valve and the change valve used for unloading of the main oil line are also included);
  ⒉Quantitative distributor: Its only function is to give specific “amount” according to the actual needs of different parts. The lubricating grease is delivered to the lubrication points after its quantification, making the lubrication positions properly lubricated. There will be no such phenomenon as insufficient feed or excessive feed.
  ⒊Control unit: The control unit is microcomputer program controller, and it is the brain of the whole system. Its main function is “timing”: it determines the stop time of the oil pump when the system does not work and the work time of the oil pump when system lubrication. In addition, it also can receive the signal transmitted from the test unit, and make a judgment on normality or failure of the system running.
  ⒋Test unit: It is the pressure sensor. It can be placed at the relevant positions according to different functional requirements to acquire the pressure of the positions, and can make the information transmitted to the control unit;
  ⒌Accessories: Mainly including the main oil pipe, branch oil pipe, cable and various joints, and the various parts are connected into a closed system.

  ●Hydraulic Principle
  The automatic lubrication system of automobile chassis has different hydraulic principles, and Germany VOGEL is relatively typical, and that of other manufacturers is essentially the same. See (figure 1) for the hydraulic principle. Generally, oil pump ① is gear pump or plunger pump, and it is driven by DC motor. The voltage is 12V or 24V, which is consistent with the existing power supply of the automobile. It works intermittently at certain cycle. Its outlet is connected with hydraulic controlled two-position three-way change valve ② When the oil pump ① works, there is output of pressure oil; open the change valve ②, and oil is fed to several parallel pressure relief type quantitative distributors ④ simultaneously. At this time, the hydraulic controlled two-position two-way change valve ⑥ is closed; the pressure oil flows towards quantitative plunger ⑤, and its volume is determined on the diameter and travel of the plunger. When the quantitative plunger ⑤ of all the pressure relief type quantitative distributors ④ is full of oil, the compressible space of the main oil line tends to be zero; the system pressure rises; the safety valve ③ overflows; and the system pressure retains at the nominal value. During this process, the pressure sensor ⑦ receives the pressure signal that the system pressure is normal, and makes the signal transmitted to the control unit, and intelligent processing is carried out. The oil pump ① continues working until the unloading of the control oil line is reached. The hydraulic controlled two-position two-way change valve ⑥ of all the pressure relief type quantitative distributors ④ changes into the normal open status. Under the action of the spring force, the lubricating oil stored in the quantitative plunger ⑤ is quantitatively delivered to different lubricating points needing lubrication, and the oil drain is completed. The system needs to time periods to complete one cycle: work time and stop time of the oil pump, and oil storage and oil drain is respectively completed during the two time periods. The maximum pressure of the oil pump is 3.8MPa; the oil tank capacity is 1.6L or 3L; the maximum oil feed amount of one cycle is 80ml; the ambient temperature is -25℃~75℃; the lubrication medium is NLGI 000, 00 or 0.

  ●Microcomputer Program Controller
  The running of the automatic lubrication system of automobile chassis is controlled by microcomputer program controller. The controller shall be installed at the position in driver's cab that is easy to be observed by driver, and it has two types: embedded type and fixed type. The stop time (time interval for oil feed) can be preset, and the oil pump will start working after the total running time of automobile under the fixed time mode (such as 10h) reaches the stop time. After the work time of the oil pump reaches the preset work time, the oil pump will stop working. Generally, the oil pump only runs for several minutes during one cycle, and it is only necessary to meet the requirements for oil storage of all the pressure relief type quantitative distributors. The open time of the safety valve shall be shortened as possible, so as to reduce the reactive power loss. To guarantee the reliability of lubrication, the pressure sensor will automatically test the system pressure during the oil storage stage of the oil pump. If the pressure is too low, then it shows that the system running is abnormal, and there may be the following faults: the oil tank has insufficient oil; motor failure; pipe leakage or failure of the pressure sensor. At this time, the controller will give an alarm signal and the oil pump will stop delivering oil. If the automobile runs for short time that is below the stop time preset by the controller, make the lubrication system restart the next working cycle, and repeat the process again and again.
  Our company has co-researched and co-developed a kind of special automobile oil pump retention sensor with Zhejiang University. When the oil pump has insufficient oil, the controller will give an alarm signal to prompt the driver to supplement the grease that meets requirements. Our company has applied to the patent offices of multiple countries for invention patent protection of this product (imitation is not permitted). To make it more convenient for oil feed of oil pump, 360°-rotary oil filling port is designed, and the oil feed can be performed at any direction. We also have applied to the patent offices of multiple countries for utility patent protection of this design (imitation is not permitted).

  ●Lubrication Points
  The number of the automatic lubrication system of automobile chassis has two types based on the applicable vehicles: generally, the lubrication points of the lubrication system applicable to large passenger car, auto truck and engineering machinery can reach 60 at most, and that of the lubrication system applicable to standard passenger car can reach 26 at most.
  The “quantification” of oil feed of the lubrication points has three types: 0.1ml, 0.2m1 and0.4ml. The “quantification” of different lubrications points can be calculated with complex formula, and generally, it can be determined based on experience and actual needs. For example, camshaft journal base, brake pedal shaft, gear shift lever and shock absorber: 0.1ml; tie rod ball stud, camshaft tail base of automatic slack adjuster: 0.2ml; main pin, leaf spring pin: 0.4ml. It shall be particularly pointed out that up to present, there is no good method meeting the automatic lubrication of rubbing pair that rotates continuously, such as the universal joint of main driving axle.

  ●Technical Parameters

  As to the main oil line from oil pump to quantitative distributor, generally, ?10×1.5 nylon tube with the pressure resistance of larger than 6.3MPa is adopted, and ?10×1 steel tube or copper tube also can be adopted, and the full length shall be controlled within 17m. Generally, 5×0.75 nylon tube is adopted for branch oil lines, and the full length of single tube shall be controlled within 3m.
